It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our colleague, friend, and longtime MST family member Catherine Martineau. We extend our thoughts and prayers to her family at this trying time. An obituary for Catherine Martineau is available here.

Schaffer, Schaub & Marriott, Ltd. (formerly Emch, Schaffer, Schaub & Porcello Co., L.P.A.) has joined MacMillan, Sobanski & Todd, LLC as of May 1, 2024 creating one of the largest intellectual property (IP) boutiques in the State of Ohio and the largest IP boutique in Northwest Ohio. SSM traces its roots back to 1901 and the firm of Owen & Owen, one of the original intellectual property law firms in Toledo.

Tim Van Tuinen, a partner at MST, was recently asked to perform in the iconic role of Mother Ginger in Toledo Ballet’s 82 performance of The Nutcracker – the longest-running, annual production of The Nutcracker in the country. Mother Ginger is a character with roots in the commedia dell’arte and usually appears in a comically oversized skirt from under which young children emerge to dance the part of candies (Gingersnaps in Toledo Ballet’s production).

The firm had its annual outing of food, games and baseball at Fifth Third’s Nest on June 29th. It was a blast!
