Matt Buchanan’s practice focuses on patent, trademark, and copyright prosecution and counseling. Matt assists early stage and established entities in the development of strategic intellectual property portfolios that are fully aligned with defined business objectives. He represents several clients in the medical device industry on patent prosecution and opinion matters relating to various technologies, including minimally invasive access devices and procedures, long term implantable devices, and external support systems. He also represents clients in connection with a variety of technologies and products relating to emergency medicine, medical equipment, biotechnology, diagnostics, personal protective equipment, entertainment, and sports.
Prior to practicing law, Matt worked in various capacities in the medical device industry, gaining experience with the scientific and legal aspects of the regulatory approval processes in the United States and around the world. He has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals on various topics, including immunology research, medical device regulations, and patent law.
